2006 NSF Minority Faculty Development Workshop
To enhance retention and advancement of minority engineering faculty

Logistics: All workshop activities will take place at NSF.  Participants will be lodged at the Hilton Arlington adjacent to NSF. Travel will be arranged by Northeastern University. Lodging and transportation expenses for participants will be covered by NSF.
Who should apply: Tenure-track engineering faculty who are members of underrepresented groups (African-American, Hispanic and Native-American). All engineering disciplines are welcome.  Native-American engineering faculty at tribal colleges and other colleges and universities are particularly encouraged to apply.

2006 High Performance Computing (HPC) Summer Institute

DESCRIPTION:
Summer Institutes are funded by the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) User Productivity Enhancement and Technology Transfer (PET) program.  The HPCMP mission is to provide world-class, high-end high performance computing capability to the DoD scientific communities. The Summer Institutes are 2-week programs, primarily for undergraduate students, which introduce them to HPC. This will be the Third-Annual Summer Institute for FIU. Students from FIU, USF, UVI, FMU, Drexel, Miami University(Ohio), Miami Dade College and Barry University have participated in previous Summer Institutes.  Students learn about parallel programming, supercomputing history, methods and techniques for parallel computation, and visualization techniques for large data sets.  They will also have the opportunity to develop and run code on a multi-processor computer and more.

CIMAV´s primary research and development, and industrial collaborations focus on advanced materials, nanotechnology, and energy & environmental sciences research.
