ARC’s Hydrocarbons
Workshop, a Complete Success
On January 23rd, 2006 in Houston, TX, the Applied Research
Center (ARC) at Florida International University, in conjunction
with the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy
at Rice University and the Center for Energy Economics
in the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of
Texas - Austin, provided logistical support for the successful
coordination of a workshop formally titled the “North
American Forum of Development of Opportunities in Deep
Water, Oil and Gas.”
The roundtable discussion covered all issues related to
deep water explorations for oil and natural gas. The approximately
40 attendees lent their scope of knowledge within deep
water exploration, energy resources, nanotechnologies,
and other such related issues, to countries that could
benefit from current deep water innovations. By developing
ideas based on current U.S. and Canadian innovation advances,
this forum set out to provide insight as to what goals
these countries can work toward in the future.
The one day hydrocarbons workshop was held in the beautiful
Baker Institute at Rice University and featured speakers
from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the U.S.
Department of Energy and other various businesses from
the public and private sectors.
