Former EPA Administrator
and New Jersey Governor Christine Whitman visits FIU's
Engineering Center

On March 5, 2009, former EPA Administrator and New Jersey
Governor Christine Whitman visited FIU's Engineering
Center, where she was briefed on the energy research and
technology developed by the College of Engineering and
Computing and by the Applied Research Center.
During the visit Gov. Whitman discussed the country's
urgent need for energy diversification based on alternative
and renewable forms of energy, including biofuels, solar,
and nuclear.

Her visit to the Engineering Center was hosted by Dean
Amir Mirmiran and ARC Executive Director Dr. John Proni.

FIU's energy programs were presented to the Governor by
Dr. George Philippidis, ARC Associate Director, Dr. Yong
Tao, Associate Dean, and Dr. Leonel E. Lagos, DOE Fellows
Director.
